Board Rules: The Hegemonikon Protocol

Welcome to Hegemonikon. By participating here, you agree to follow these core principles designed to foster technical autonomy and constructive discourse.

1. Interoperability & Standards First
We prioritize discussions that align with established open standards.
  • Reference W3C recommendations for web technologies.
  • Cite relevant RFCs when discussing protocol implementations.
  • Avoid promoting proprietary "walled garden" solutions unless discussing how to bridge or exit them.
2. Signal Over Noise (Post Quality)
To keep the database lean and the discussion high-quality:
  • Ensure posts are substantive. Avoid low-effort, one-word replies.
  • Use descriptive titles for new threads (e.g., [NIP-01] Troubleshooting Relay Auth).
  • Format code snippets and logs properly to ensure readability across all user agents.
3. Respect for Digital Sovereignty
  • Privacy: Never share another user’s PII or deanonymize users without consent.
  • Security: Do not post malicious code or tools designed for unprovoked harm. Research into ZKP, encryption, and testing is welcome when framed as defensive or educational.
4. Civil Peer-to-Peer Interaction
In the spirit of decentralized networks, we function as a group of peers.
  • Critique the code or the logic, not the person.
  • Adhere to Postel’s Law: Be conservative in what you send, liberal in what you accept. Be patient with newcomers, but firm on technical accuracy.
5. Accessibility & Universal Access
Consistent with W3C WAI guidelines:
  • Avoid excessive use of flashing imagery or complex formatting that breaks screen readers.
  • Keep the board accessible to those accessing via Tor, VPNs, or low-bandwidth connections.
6. No Spam or Commercial Solicitation
  • Automated bot posting is strictly prohibited.
  • Affiliate links and unsolicited advertisements will be removed. Mentioning your own open-source projects or consulting services in a relevant context is encouraged.
